Details about : Front window shoe for VOLKSWAGEN Combi Bay Window (08/1967-07/1979)

The car door glass shoe is an important component of the glass up/down mechanism. It is located on the lower part of the window and serves to guide and hold the glass in the door while allowing smooth movement when opening or closing it.

Serving to hold the glass in place in the window lift mechanism, preventing it from moving sideways or falling into the door, the shoe plays a crucial role in allowing the glass to move up or down without obstruction or excessive resistance.

It allows the glass to move smoothly when the window regulator is activated. The shoe helps keep the glass aligned and prevents any unwanted deflection or squeaking as it moves.

By being fitted with materials such as plastic or rubber, the shoe helps reduce friction between the glass and other door components, helping to prolong the life of the glass and the mechanism.

If you notice that the glass seems to jam or move jerkily, this may be due to a worn or broken glass shoe; over time it can become severely eaten away by rust and break.

If you hear rubbing noises when you use the window regulator, this may indicate that the glass shoe is damaged or that parts of it are worn, so don't forget to check the condition of the shoe seal.

A broken shoe may prevent the window from moving properly, leading to partial or total blockage.

It is necessary to remove the door panel to gain access to the window regulator mechanism. This involves removing screws, clips and fixing screws to dismantle the panel.

Once the panel is removed, you'll need to dismantle the window regulator mechanism to free the glass, and before you do this, you'll need to hold the glass in place, ideally with a glass clamp to prevent it from falling out and breaking.

The shoe is fastened to the glass and to the window-lift mechanism with screws. Carefully remove it without damaging other components.

Place the new window shoe in the same position as the old one, using the same reference points, ensuring that it is securely fastened and aligned with the other parts of the mechanism. If necessary, replace any worn slides or other components at the same time.

Once the shoe has been installed, reassemble the window-lift mechanism, replace the glass and test the movement of the glass to make sure it moves smoothly.

This window support shoe is designed for the left or right front for VW Combi Bay Window from 08/1967 to 07/1979.
