I needed a key-operated cap for my 1977 Beetle convertible. One evening, as I was driving away, the car had carburetion problems. After inspecting the filters, carburetor, etc., I was unpleasantly surprised to find sand in my fuel tank. This cap was just what I needed.

The screw thread doesn't allow the plug to be screwed all the way into its housing, so it floats and the trap door bumps into it when you close it.
