Description Product
The rear torsion spring silentblock for VW Combi is an essential component of the rear suspension system. It acts as a support for the torsion bar, a key suspension component that helps absorb shocks and maintain the vehicle's balance while driving. The silentblock is generally made of rubber, and helps to dampen vibrations and noise while allowing the suspension to move smoothly.
It will preserve your ride quality and precision for longer.
The silentbloc plays a crucial role in damping the vibrations generated by the suspension, improving ride comfort and reducing noise.
It secures the torsion bar to the vehicle's structure, while allowing the suspension to operate correctly without the bar moving excessively.
By allowing smooth, controlled movement of the suspension, the silentbloc reduces premature wear of other suspension components, such as control arms and shock absorbers.
If the silentblock is worn, you may hear rattling or squealing noises coming from the rear of the vehicle, particularly when driving over bumps or road irregularities.
A damaged silentbloc can cause excessive movement of the torsion bar, which can affect the vehicle's handling and make driving less stable.
If the torsion bar moves abnormally due to a worn silentbloc, this can lead to uneven tire wear at the rear of the vehicle.
To install new silentblocs, jack up the rear of the vehicle and secure it with jackstands. Remove the rear wheels to gain access to the suspension components.
You'll need to remove the components that hold the torsion bar in place, such as the mounting bolts and brackets. You'll also need to remove any shock absorbers or other suspension components.
Once the components have been removed, remove the old silentblock from the torsion bar. This process may require the use of an extractor or hammer, or even a press, to dislodge the old silentblock. Take care not to damage the torsion bar or other suspension parts.
Place the new silentbloc in its seat. It may be necessary to lightly lubricate the silentbloc and brackets to facilitate installation, using a press if necessary. Make sure the silentblock is properly positioned and secured.
Reinstall all removed components in reverse order. Tighten all fixing bolts to the correct tension specified by the manufacturer. Don't forget to check the correct position of the torsion blade.
Once everything is reassembled, check that the suspension is working properly. Lower the vehicle and carry out a test drive to ensure that the suspension no longer makes any abnormal noises and that the ride is stable.
Take this opportunity to check the general condition of other rear suspension parts, such as shock absorbers, springs and seals, to avoid further short-term repairs.
