Housed in a plastic enclosure (black plastic casing), this under-body fuel pump supplies the necessary fuel pressure to theinjection rail.
It is itself supplied by a booster pump located in the fuel tank.
If your car loses engine power, shuts down or struggles to start, a fuel supply failure may be the cause. There are several ways to diagnose the state of the fuel system, either by measuring the pressure in the system using a pressure gauge, or by measuring the quantity of fuel leaving the system, all with reference to the manufacturer's data.
The fuel path from the tank to the engine is simple, but long. It passes through the fuel pumps, filter, pressure regulator, fuel rail, injectors and hoses. All these elements can be at the root of a fuel supply problem, so it's a good idea to check everything and replace any parts that may be faulty.
