Description Product

Details about : IMS double row bearing for Porsche 986 Boxster (1997-2001)

IMS double row bearing for Porsche 986 Boxster produced until May 2001:

- 986 2.5 Boxster - 204 hp (M96.20) from 1997 to 1999

- 986 2.7 Boxster - 220 hp (M96.22) from 2000 to 2001

- 986 3.2 Boxster S - 252 hp (M96.21) from 2000 to 2001

The double-row intermediate shaft bearing is not held by a snap ring, whereas the single-row bearing is.

This bearing is stronger than the original, although the balls are not ceramic, the bearing has a special high-temperature grease and a stronger seal than the original. It is therefore more resistant to friction and overheating. This makes your motor more reliable.

To facilitate bearing assembly and preserve its integrity. We strongly recommend that you chill the bearing in a freezer for 2 hours beforehand, and heat the area of the engine block where the IMS will be fitted (to 120°C).

It is also imperative to ensure that there is no oil in the intermediate shaft tube before fitting the bearing!

Centrifugal force, combined with residual oil, creates a counterweight that will destroy the bearing prematurely.
