This PMH sensor informs the DME case of your Porsche on the position of the crankshaft. This signal allows the ECU (DME) to adjust ignition and fuel injection. A malfunction of the engine (rutted, vibration, backfire ..) can be caused by this sensor.
It mounts directly, without using the connectors and replacement pins, on the Porsche 911 type 996 :
